PEAR TREE SUMMER CAMP is NOW REGISTERING for our 2025 SUMMER PROGRAM!

We are serving children ages 4 -11. Pear Tree Summer Camp will also offer a CIT (Counselors In Training) session for children ages 11-13. CIT’s support the sessions with the younger campers, gain experience in leadership training / community building, play games and create art / crafts with their peers.

This year, our popular summer camp will consist of four different summer groups: Transitional Kindergarten, Kindergarten - 2nd grade, 3rd -5th grade, as well as our fourth leadership cohort of Counselors in Training (CIT's).

Pear Tree Summer Camp specializes in 1.5 hours of morning mathematics to prevent summer learning loss. The rest of the day involves visual and performance art, sports, science & culinary projects that revolve around weekly themes. We also have walking field trips for the older groups and fun Friday events that culminate after each weekly theme’s activities.

CAMP HOURS : 8:30am - 3:00pm

*Aftercare from 3:00pm - 5:00pm offered for additional cost

This year’s themes are as follows:

Week 1: Mythical Creatures & Legends (June 16 - June 20)

Step into a world of magic and legends! Campers will explore mythical creatures from around the world through art, science, and movement. They'll create dragon masks, sculpt mystical beings from clay, and write secret messages using invisible ink. A bubbling cauldron experiment will bring the magic to life, while outdoor games like Dragon Tag keep the adventure going. To top it off, campers will decorate cookies shaped like their favorite mythical creatures!

Week 2: Under the Sea & Marine Science (June 23 - June 27)

Dive into the wonders of the ocean! Campers will create watercolor ocean scenes, craft jellyfish in a bottle from upcycled materials, and explore marine science with hands-on experiments like edible ocean slime and ocean layer density jars. Outdoor games like Water Balloon Ocean Relay and Fish, Shark, Whale will make a splash, while a sushi-making activity lets them roll up some delicious fun!

Week 3: Eco Warriors: Sustainability & Nature (June 30 - July 3) (Short week - $380)

Become a champion for the planet! Campers will learn about sustainability by creating upcycled art, making biodegradable plastic from cornstarch, and weaving with natural materials. They’ll build DIY solar ovens to make s’mores, filter water in a science experiment, and explore nature through scavenger hunts and recycling relays. A hands-on granola bar-making activity will teach them about healthy, locally sourced snacks!

Week 4: Time Travelers: Past, Present, Future (July 7 - July 11)

Travel through time in one exciting week! Campers will explore ancient history by creating cave paintings and Egyptian cartouches, step into the Renaissance with fresco painting, and dream up the future by designing inventions. They’ll dig for artifacts in a mock archaeological dig, race through time-travel freeze tag, and bake bread using ancient grain recipes for a tasty history lesson!

Week 5: Space Explorers & Astronomy (July 14 - July 18)

Blast off on a cosmic adventure! Future astronauts will paint galaxy marbles, build constellation viewers, and race balloon rockets through space. They'll recreate the moon’s phases using Oreo cookies and construct their own cardboard spaceships. Outdoor activities like a moon rock hunt and astronaut obstacle course will test their space training, and a freeze-dried fruit snack mix will give them a taste of astronaut food!

Week 6: Innovation & Inventions (July 21 - July 25)

Unleash your inner inventor! This week is all about problem-solving and creativity, from designing paper bridges and wind-powered cars to building Rube Goldberg machines. Campers will explore circuits using playdough and batteries and create balloon-powered boats. Engineering relays and floating paper boat races will bring their ideas to life. They'll even make homemade butter in a jar—an invention that changed food forever!

Week 7: Festival of Colors & Culture (July 28 - August 1)

Celebrate creativity and cultural traditions from around the world! Campers will explore Indian Rangoli art, Mexican Papel Picado, and African Kente weaving, while experimenting with natural dyes made from fruits and vegetables. Outdoor activities include a cultural dance-off and a world flags relay. To wrap up the week, campers will participate in a Holi-inspired color splash and make their own mini pizzas inspired by Italian cuisine!

Week 8: Carnival & Circus (August 4 - August 8)

Step right up for a week of circus fun! Campers will design their own carnival posters, create juggling balls, and build exciting carnival games. They'll practice acrobat moves, test their balance, and compete in clown relay races. The grand finale is CARNIVAL DAY, featuring games, face painting, and classic treats like popcorn and caramel apples!
